Poor old man Cyberpunk 2077. Is a phrase I never thought I would think. But here we are, just a few weeks away from its first year on sale (!), And I feel like I’m feeling strange stings. Because god me, it’s pretty popular on Steam today.

Hovering in the top half of Steam’s top 10 Top sellers, CD Projekt’s besieged game seems to find new love with its current sale at half price. Down to $ 30, rather than the incredibly optimistic $ 60 it’s ridiculously maintained for almost 12 months, people are jumping to get it. And you know what, fair enough really. Because at this point, the game has received literally thousands of bug fixes, plaster, patches to correct previous patches, removed moisture, added even humidity, and at least on the PC is a working, huge RPG.

On the console, it’s still a whole other matter. In a year that has seen CD Project be hacked, their source code stolen and auctioned online, they tried to bury the severity of the hack under the noise of E3, while it is also taken from the sale of Sony for six months, and have the extent of the crunch their developers were put under made very visible. Which might have been better received if the promised “next-gen” versions of the game for PS5 and XBS had appeared when they were promised. Which, of course, they did not. And still have not.

But today – today they have a good day. As VCG reported, CDP President Adam Kiciński became completely dizzy and told the Polish newspaper Republic, “We believe that Cyberpunk 2077 will eventually be perceived as a very good game, and like our other titles, it will sell for years. ”

In the meantime Cyberpunk‘s quest director, Paweł Saxony, hurried to Twitter in childlike delight at watching the game get non-horrible reviews on Steam. In fact, boosted by current sales, the game registers “Very Positive.”

Sasko notes that these reviews have arrived within the last few days, adding: “You can not imagine what that means for me.” Sniff.

He later added, “Over 15K very positive reviews in recent days, while both # Cyberpunk2077 and #The Witcher3 is on the global list of Steam top sellers, “and concludes:” Thank you very much! “

Forbes caught the game at the very top of Steam’s list earlier, though at the time of writing it’s being pissed off, uh, Farming Simulator 22.

Eventually, someone will knock them all on the shoulder and remind them that they need to get the game working for consoles at some point, and the sadness will rush in again. But let’s let them have this one.
