Channing Tatum has confirmed that a third Magic Mike movie is currently underway after sharing a picture of the script.

The 41-year-old teased the upcoming sequel in a post on Instagram earlier, where it was also confirmed that the actor would repeat the role of Mike Lane in the new film.

His post included a photo of the cover of the script for the third part of the film series, which follows Magic Mike (2012) and its first sequel Magic Mike XXL (2015).

The script revealed that the new film is titled Magic Mike’s Last Dance and is written by Reid Carolin – who has written the scripts for the previous two rounds.

In the caption to the post, Tatum – who co-produced the two previous films – told his 16.9 million followers: “Well, world, it looks like Mike Lane is coming in again.”

The original film followed the title character (played by Tatum) as he guided the new recruit Adam (Alex Pettyfer), who had joined the world of male stripping.

The film ended with Mike taking a break from stripping, though he subsequently returned in the 2015 sequel – though Pettyfer did not repeat his role in the film.

Other cast members include Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodríguez and Gabriel Iglesias – all five of whom starred in the original film and its sequel. It’s unknown if they will return in Magic Mike’s Last Dance.

According to Deadline, the first two films grossed nearly $ 300 million worldwide, and the franchise has spawned a successful stage show titled Magic Mike Live.

This includes a production at the Hippodrome Casino in London, which promises an “unforgettable fun evening of sizzling, 360-degree entertainment” based on the films.

The show, directed by Tatum, warns on its website: “If you are not going to let go of your hair, laugh out loud and be really hot guys, then this is probably not for you.”

Magic Mike’s Last Dance, directed by Steven Soderbergh, is set to premiere exclusively on HBO Max, with a release date yet to be announced.
