Super Bowl of Rodeo

The NFR has been consistently referred to as the “Super Bowl of Rodeo” with this phrase due to the great massiveness of its popularity and money-making power in the rodeo context. The event is considered to be so large and consistently sold out that the UNLV basketball team that normally uses the NFR’s venue during the season must annually build up its schedule in a way that keeps the team on the move throughout the NFR festivities.

Miss Rodeo America

This event is a celebration that takes place in conjunction with the NFR as part of the NFR’s overall festivities. State rodeo queen winners from across the United States compete for the Miss Rodeo America crown and line up to potentially win $ 20,000, among other smaller prizes. In addition to the prizes, the winner is expected to travel to various rodeos throughout the United States and promote the rodeo during the following year.

The Miss Rodeo America competition gives young women the opportunity to have one of the richest experiences of their lives, while creating a solid foundation for their future endeavors. Lifelong friendships are created and many doors are opened – for all competitors, as well as the young lady who is chosen to wear the coveted crown. Miss Rodeo America will be part of a great legacy … and part of history … yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Cowboy jul

For those who need a break from the constant adrenaline that accompanies the NFR’s major events, the Cowboy Christmas experience allows for a welcome change of pace. This part of the NFR is centered around cowboy shopping and serves as a marketplace for hundreds of exhibitors from the United States and Canada to sell to thousands of avid buyers. Cowboy Christmas, which typically takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center, will also move to Arlington, TX in 2020. All exhibitors will have the opportunity to sign up / unsubscribe by 2020.

NFR 2021 Preview and Prediction

Las Vegas’ past success in hosting the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo will not skip a beat when the event, commonly referred to as the Super Bowl of Rodeo, gallops into town this week.

While dozens of conferences and events have cautiously predicted less attendance than usual due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lack of international traffic, NFR operators say the 10-day rodeo event starting Thursday will be stronger than ever .

“The entire rodeo community is excited to be back in Vegas,” said Tom Glause, the new CEO of Colorado Springs, Colorado-based Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, sponsor of the NFR. “Everyone I talk to is ecstatic about being back.”

This year’s rodeo at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center has been sold out since March. The city’s resorts charge room rates well above the normal average. While the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has no estimate of the economic impact of this year’s rodeo, all indications are that it will meet or exceed the 2019 level, estimated at $ 175.8 million.

“We have been anxiously awaiting the return of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and welcoming their loyal rodeo fans back,” said Steve Hill, President and CEO of LVCVA. Las Vegas resorts and attractions continue to surpass themselves by transforming the destination into the ultimate country western destination with A-list entertainment and nonstop ‘Only-Vegas’ experiences.

“The NFR, returning to Las Vegas, also serves as an important economic benefit in December to our community and another important step in our recovery efforts.

Closing words

For anyone who is a fan of the rodeo, the main events and the surrounding festivities are must-see events and must-attend experiences, if the financial means allow.
