Former Florida Election Commissioner Convicted of Conspiracy and Distribution of Child Pornography – CBS Tampa

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CW44 News At 10) – Eric Matthew Lipman, 59, of Tallahassee, Florida, pleaded guilty today to conspiracy to distribute, receive and possess child pornography material and distribute child pornography material. Jason R. Coody, acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, announced that he pleaded guilty.

Between February 8, 2021 and February 11, 2021, Lipman was with other participants in Mega.NZ chat groups that distributed, received, possessed, and discussed child pornographic images and videos. Mega.NZ was an internet cloud storage and file hosting service based in New Zealand. Lipman conspired with the members of the chat groups to distribute, receive and possess material that constitutes child pornography, and posted child pornography material in Mega.NZ chat groups for the benefit of other like-minded participants. The pornographic material distributed by Lipman and found on Lipman’s electronic devices involved prepubertal minors as well as minors under 12 years of age.

Lipman faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, with a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years in prison, followed by a period of 5 years to life of supervised release on all counts following his prison sentence.

This case was the result of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin M. Keen is pursuing the case.

Lipman’s sentencing is scheduled for March 18, 2022 at. 13.30 at the United States Courthouse in Tallahassee before the Honorable U.S. Chief District Judge Mark E. Walker.
