MIAMI, Florida (CW44 News At 10) – Former Miami attorney Aaron Patrick Honaker, 42, of Miami, was sentenced to 40 months in prison for committing a series of five bank robberies and attempted bank robberies in southern Florida in September and October 2020 .
On August 18, 2021, Honaker pleaded guilty to attempting to rob a Citibank in Coral Gables on September 30, 2020. He admitted that days later he robbed a Chase Bank in Aventura. Two days later, on October 5, 2020, Honaker then attempted to rob a Wells Fargo Bank in Coral Gables. Five days later, he robbed a Chase Bank in Coral Gables. Then again, five days later, he tried to rob an HSBC bank in Coral Gables.

The defendant also admitted to police that he knew that each of the tellers he approached during the robberies was scared as a result of his behavior. The defendant told police he carried a hammer with him during the robberies to escape any glass-trap traps that could potentially be triggered by bank security.

On December 1, 2021, the Honorable U.S. District Judge Marcia G. Cooke changed downward from a recommended sentencing limit of 60 months in prison and sentenced Honaker to a prison term of 40 months, followed by a period of supervised release of 4 years.
