There are many, many, MANY fighters and characters that have appeared throughout Tekken franchise. Some of them are really weird. Others are cool. Some are boring and no one cares about them. And then there’s the bear Kuma, the best of them all.
Yes, Kuma is a bear that also stands upright and fights in martial arts tournaments. It’s weird, but it’s far from the weirdest thing in the world Tekken franchise.
The thing is, if you think about it, a bear is probably the most deadly character you can encounter in a one-on-one fight. I do not care how well you kick and hit, if a bear grabs you and starts eating at your face and neck, you are dead.
The real reason Kuma is the best character is his closing videos. Since his first appearance in Tekken, his conclusions have often shown him to hang out or feud with Heihachi Mishima, one of the biggest villains in the franchise.
Sometimes he signs papers with paw prints (and conjures up Mishima.)
Sometimes he is in outer space!
And sometimes he just dances and feels good. Who would not want to dance and party with a big, brown bear?
I should point out now, because if I do not, someone else wants there to be TWO Kumas. After the events of Tekken 2, but before Tekken 3, that first Kuma died. His son would grow up and become a fighter like his father, but he also developed a hatred for Paul, another Tekken fighter. Like many things in Tekken, It is a All involves several games and characters.
We are not here to talk about Tekken lore, or at least I had not planned it. Instead, let’s watch more Kuma closing videos. Luckily for us, someone has put them all together. Bless them.
I hope years from now, when Tekken 10 has been released that Kuma will still be part of the series. He’s been there since day 1 and I can not imagine Tekken without my bear hugs and silly endings.
Panda is also amazing and you should see it all Panda finishes next.
