The Met Office has issued a thunderstorm warning in parts of Wales on Sunday afternoon.

The yellow warning reads: “A band of heavy showers and thunderstorms will move rapidly to the east today, giving a period of intense rain and perhaps 15-20 mm of rain in some places in an hour or less.

“These may be accompanied by lightning, hail and strong winds with a low risk that some places may see gusts of 50 mph.”

The warning is in place from noon to noon. 18 and covers Cardiff, Newport and Monmouthshire.
