MPS is temporarily switching to virtual learning due to COVID

Milwaukee Public Schools will temporarily transition to virtual learning from Tuesday, according to a statement Sunday night. The district’s goal is to resume personal learning on January 10th.

“MPS was scheduled to resume personal learning on January 4, 2022, but due to an influx of reported positive COVID-19 cases among district staff, this emergency measure is being implemented,” the statement said.

District employees who are not quarantined in accordance with the MPS COVID-19 protocol are expected to report to their workplace, the statement said.

Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association posted on Facebook Saturday that they advocated for MPS to return pretty much this week “so that testing can take place and staff assessed properly.”

Students should sign in to their learning platforms Google Classroom or SeeSaw to receive additional instruction Tuesday, an MPS email told parents. Families can contact school leaders for assistance with technology needs.
