RRR director SS Rajamouli opens up to make a much smaller film after finishing his next with Mahesh Babu [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]

SS Rajamouli – just a mention of the name alone is enough to evoke awe and wonder, evoke visions of greatness, opulence and an epic scale in every sense of the word. No one in Indian cinema since K. Asif is better at milking a big budget to transport audiences to another world through their cinematic screen. But with such expectations comes the burden of delivering and understanding that the well-known burden of expectation does Rajamouli ever feel that his creativity as a director is being suffocated? In the wake of magnum opus like Magadheera, Eega, Baahubali, RRR and possibly also his neighbor, with Mahesh Babu, he has ever had to dampen the desire to make a smaller film, to tread a different path, just to take a break from getting big? Well, the filmmaker himself was honest while clearing the air about his creative urges in an exclusive interview with BollywoodLife. “After Magadheera, I made a very small film with a comedian as a hero, Maryada Ramanna. So the mindset is the same. Why I did Maryada Ramanna … because I found an intriguing story. Why I did Makkhi (Eega, in telugu) … because I found an intriguing story. Why I made Magadheera or Baahubali or Yamadonga is again because I found an intriguing story. Once I’ve found it (the story), whether it’s big or small, it does not matter. I never, ever feel the pressure of audience expectations. In fact, it’s a boost to my energy – if so many people expect you to tell a good story, then you have as many people as your first audience. You have a guaranteed audience. So it’s a boost for me, ”said SS Rajamouli. Also read – Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit, Shahid Kapoor and several Bollywood biggies making an OTT debut in 2022
