Southwest Airlines cancels hundreds of flights as winter weather moves into North Texas – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

The winter weather that hit northern Texas on Saturday afternoon forced Southwest Airlines to cancel hundreds of flights over the weekend, the airline said.

According to Dallas-based Southwest Airlines, planners are working to anticipate operational challenges on Sunday as the winter storm moves toward the east coast.

The airline’s representatives said they are working to accommodate customers on the approximately 400 canceled departures from 1 p.m. 9 on Sunday.

The airline also expected further cancellations later in the day, representatives said.

According to Southwest Airlines, employees at airports already hit by the storm were facing challenges posed by the extreme weather.

The same wintry weather conditions caused 490 cancellations, primarily centered in the Midwest, on Saturday.
