Netflix released the first trailer of All of us are dead, an upcoming Korean horror series that premieres exclusively on the streaming channel later this month. Inspired by the digital cartoon Now at our school by Joo Dong-geun, All of us are dead follows a group of students trying to survive after their school has been infected with zombies.
The short trailer contains some explosive images of the zombie outbreak inside and outside a high school. While the trailer only shows us glimpses of the upcoming series, the work of makeup and special effects is in place and promises one of the wildest zombie productions of the last few years. While the series focuses on what happens in a high school, the trailer also shows how the zombie virus spread across Korea.
Since the original webcomic was released between 2009 and 2011 and consists of only nine chapters, the live-action adaptation is expected to expand its history, especially if Netflix hopes to renew the series for another season if the first one turns out to be ‘successful.
All of us are dead is not the first Korean Netflix production featuring zombies. In 2019, the streaming platform was released Kingdom, a zombie-infested historical series set in XIV-century Korea. In 2020, the movie #Alive also reached Netflix’s most watched global series with a story about a man trying to survive a zombie apocalypse while locked inside his apartment.
The world turned its attention to Korean productions on Netflix again in September last year, then Play squid surpassed another Netflix hit Bridgerton for the most-watched series in less than four weeks, claiming number 1 on the streaming platform for 28 days in a row. In addition to being an indisputable public phenomenon, Squid games Netflix also received many award nominations, meaning the company is likely to invest more in Korean production. So here is to hope All of us are dead will scratch us for more Korean breathtaking shows.
All of us are dead is directed by Lee JQ and Kim Nam-su. Chun Sung-il writes all 12 episodes of the first season. The stars of the series Yoon Chan-young, Park Ji-hoo, Cho Yi-hyun, Solomon Park, and Yoo In-soo.
