Guacamelee developers are releasing the next game this month

After the colorful luchador metroidvania violence from Guacamelee! series, developers Drinkbox Studios return to turn their imagination into an action RPG. Today, they announced a January 18 release date for Nobody Saves The World, a top-down ARPG where players can transform into anything from a rogue to a rat and customize them to be even more bizarre. It will also be on Game Pass.

When evil rises in Nobody Saves The World, it will fall to use to save the world. Because we are nobody. You see? It will make us learn shapes to switch to (15+, they say), ranging from a rogue or dragon to a snail or ghost. Then you can combine them with odd 80 abilities from different forms to create builds.

Their blurb has an energy I appreciate: “Play like an egg that can leave a trail of slime and shoot fireballs !!! We can not stop you!”

Lots of silly quests to help people unlock all that jazz, they say. And online cooperative multiplayer.

I’m glad it’s still colorful and silly. And heck, I’m happy to see more from Drinkbox – and something else. “I’ve had such a great time with this huge game,” said John Walker (RPS in peace) in our Guacamelee review. Our Guacamelee! 2 review, however, felt that the sequel dragged on for too long.

Nobody Saves The World launches January 18 on Steam and the Microsoft Store, as well as Xboxes. And yes, it will be on Game Pass for everyone.
