The School of
Health Sciences & Human Performance at Catawba College (“Catawba”) is growing and welcomes applications for a new
tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Healthcare Administration beginning August, 2022. We seek an accomplished leader who
understands current trends in business, administration, and leadership of the healthcare industry. The candidate will assist in starting and
teaching within a new Master’s degree in healthcare administration. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an outstanding
individual to collaborate with other faculty in ongoing research, build their own program of research, and shape the direction of new
initiatives. Catawba will give preference to candidates with the ability to deliver a wide variety of graduate and undergraduate coursework
in healthcare administration courses. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in interdisciplinary scholarship and a commitment
to translating research into practice.

The School of Health Sciences & Human Performance currently offers degrees in Exercise
Science, Nursing, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Therapeutic Recreation, and Sport Management. The candidate will have opportunities to
teach and provide input on the development of new undergraduate and graduate degree programs. This position requires regular contributions
to Catawba through faculty service appointments and possess a desire to shape Catawba’s community and culture through active
participation in campus life beyond the classroom as a colleague and campus leader. 

DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach graduate courses in the Healthcare Administration core, as well as teach in undergraduate
    programs within the School of Health Science & Human Performance as needed
  • Ability and willingness to establish an effective
    scholarly agenda with student involvement
  • Assist graduate and undergraduate students in scholarly activities outside of the
    classroom
  • Develop and oversee student internship experiences in healthcare administration practice
  • Willingness to develop
    courses building on the established curricula and contribute, with potential in developing new graduate level courses and curricula
  • Actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching
  • Assist with the assessment and
    evaluation of programs
  • Advise prospective, new, and current students regarding program planning, course selection and employment
    options within the department majors
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ph.D., Dr.P.H., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. in the area of healthcare administration, or closely related
    field
  • Experience in successful mentoring or evidence of potential to mentor graduate students 
  • Experience using a
    variety of instructional strategies, such as face-to-face delivery, online, hybrid, experiential learning, and field-based experiences to
    engage students with diverse experiences
  • A willingness to embrace working in an inter-disciplinary atmosphere

ABOUT CATAWBA:

Founded in 1851 in Newton, North Carolina, Catawba was started by German pioneers who had traveled
from eastern Pennsylvania to settle in the valleys of the Haw, Yadkin, and Catawba Rivers. In 1890, Catawba became a coeducational
institution and the first woman graduate completed her studies in 1893. In 1925, Catawba moved and re-opened to its current location in
Salisbury, NC, which is about 45 minutes from Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Charlotte, two hours from the mountains, and four hours from
the beaches. 

Today, Catawba College has 41 buildings on 276 wooded acres on a residential campus. Catawba is known for its 189
acre on-campus ecological preserve. Ranked as one of the best colleges in the south, Catawba offers 70 academic majors to approximately
1,300 students representing 34 U.S. states and 19 foreign countries. Students are instructed by nearly 90 full-time faculty, more than 83%
of whom hold the highest degree in their field.
