General Summary

The Integrations Developer works within a team environment performing Web development and systems integration. This position will be responsible for the technical analysis, design, development, testing, and support of software applications for the University’s enterprise systems.

Software Development Duties include:
1. Performing software engineering both long-term and day-to-day maintenance as well as provide technical analysis around how we use and should adopt and/or modify various functionalities.
2. Perform Technical Support & Incident Management providing subject-matter expertise on database best practices.
3. Provide proactive analysis including ad-hoc queries for analysis, reporting, and tuning.
4. Create, Maintain, and Update System and Configuration Specific documentation like Environment Diagrams, Security, and Integration Mappings.
5. Perform Core and Integration Testing of all planned Changes.

The Web and Interactive Communications (WEB) team collaborates with all facets of the University. WEB ensures Illinois State’s online presence is a positive and intuitive experience for all users. They also set usability and branding standards for websites and web applications within the University. 

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Information Technology or related field

2. Minimum of one year of experience gathering requirements, writing use cases, facilitating meetings, documenting notes, creating deliverables, and establishing healthy business relationships

3. Minimum of one year of experience with Source Control, Defect Management, and Incident Management Software Tools

4. Minimum of one year of experience collecting technical requirements and designing appropriate software solutions

5. Minimum of one year of demonstrated experience in software testing, including unit testing and integration testing

6. Minimum of two years of experience developing software, including on-call and off-hours support

7. Minimum of one year of experience developing in a language such as Java, .Net, Python, or comparable using as the following technologies:
a. SQL Databases (i.e., Oracle, Microsoft)
b. JUnit and/or TestNG or other unit testing frameworks
c. Webservice protocols (i.e., REST, SOAP)
d. Common enterprise file formats (i.e., CSV, XML, JSON)

8. Minimum of one year of experience in web development utilizing the following technologies:
a. JavaScript frameworks like AngularJS and Vue.js
c. Authoring and consuming SOAP and REST web services

9. Minimum of one year of experience using the following Source Control and Code Management tools (or equivalents):
a. Apache Maven
b. Git
c. Continuous Integration tools

Work Hours

8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday; weekend or after-hours work may be required to support change management or disaster recovery.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

2. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
