NSW road deaths: Two killed in collision between fire truck and Ford Falcon on Castlereagh Highway between Lithgow and Mudgee

Two people have died after a collision between two vehicles on Castlereagh Highway between Lithgow and Mudgee.

Emergency services were called to Castlereagh Highway near Pearson’s Lookout in the Capertee Valley around noon. 9.30am Thursday after reports that an NSW Rural Fire Service truck and a Ford Falcon had collided.

The two men in the car – who have not yet been formally identified – died on the spot.

A report will be prepared for the forensic pathologist.

The four people in the truck were not injured and the driver has been taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Police have set up a crime scene and are urging anyone who saw the incident, or who has dashcam footage from the area at the time, to contact Crime Stoppers.
