BFA or
equivalent experience with a solid background in photography is required. Successful candidates will have a working knowledge of current
trends and techniques in contemporary photography that includes technical knowledge of analogue and digital photo equipment and chemistry
processes. They must have photo and video documentation skills. Candidates will have the ability to work independently, possess strong oral
and written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. They must have experience working in a photography lab, ideally in a
university context. They must have supervisory and budget skills and an ability to follow detailed policies and procedures. They must have a
commitment to diversity with an ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment with students, faculty and
staff. 

Occasional work beyond normal 8-5 business hours will be required for photo and video documentation of events,
lectures, and exhibitions.

Job Description

The School
of Art & Design at Texas State University seeks a Photography Lab Manager (PLM) for the BFA Photography Program. 

Job
Duties

The PLM will oversee the operation of the photography program’s facilities, budget, and service needs for students
and faculty. They will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the photography building including gallery space, digital and
darkroom labs, equipment, checkout protocols, website and social media updates, and other digital and darkroom-related business, as well as
in charge of financial reporting, budgeting, and purchasing. Additionally, they will supervise students, lab monitors, and will work closely
with faculty to manage lab needs for courses and various programming events. They will also be responsible for photo and video documentation
of BFA Thesis Exhibitions, visiting artist lectures, presentations, and other related events for the School of Art & Design.
