Sinead O’Connor’s 17-year-old son died two days after he was reported missing when the singer told fans he had ‘decided to end his earthly battle’.
The Irish singer, 55, paid tribute to her ‘beautiful’ son Shane, whom she shares with her ex, folk singer Donal Lunny, on Twitter when she confirmed the news.
She wrote: ‘My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.
‘May he rest in peace, and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Be at peace: ‘
Shane was one of Sinead’s four children – Jake Reynolds, Roisin Waters and Yeshua Francis Neil Bonadio.

Sinead later tweeted a Bob Marley song, which she dedicated to Shane, describing her son as her ‘blue-eye baby’ and ‘the light of my life’.
She added: ‘This is for my Shaney. The light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eyed baby. You will always be my light. We will always be together. No border can separate us. ‘
It comes after Garda launched an appeal for help finding Shane, who was last seen in Tallaght, south Dublin, on Friday. Police confirmed on Saturday that the search for Shane had been ‘interrupted’.
Their appeal statement said: ‘He is 5 feet 6 ins, with short brown hair and blue eyes. When he was last seen, he was wearing a black hoodie with a print design, dark training pants, a wine-colored T-shirt and runners. ‘
A spokesman told The Sun today: ‘Following the restoration of a corpse in the Bray area of Wicklow on Friday, January 7, 2022, an appeal for missing persons in respect of Shane O’Connor, 17, has been rejected.’
Sinead wrote on Twitter after Shane disappeared: ‘Shane, your life is precious. God did not chisel the beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing. My world would collapse without you.
She paid tribute to her son and wrote: ‘My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God’

‘You’re my Heart. Do not stop it from hitting. Please do not hurt yourself. Go to Gardai and let’s get you to the hospital. ‘
She later took to the social media platform to threaten the hospital, where she said her son had stayed with a ‘trial’ if ‘something happens to my son’.
She wrote: ‘Like, how has a seventeen year old traumatized young person, WHO WAS ON SUICIDE GUARD at Tallaght Hospital’s Lynn Ward, been able to disappear ??? Hospital has, of course, so far refused to take any responsibility. Is something happening to my son on their watch? Lawsuits.

“I want to know why Lynn Ward at Taillight Hospital, who was supposed to have HCAs to monitor my child 24/7, has managed to get him out of their grip this morning when he made two serious 7 days ago suicide attempt. ”
Sinead has been married four times and has four children.
Her eldest son is 34-year-old Jake Reynolds, whose father is Donal Reynolds. They married in 1987 before divorcing in 1991.
Her daughter Roisin, 25, is the result of her relationship with journalist John Waters.
She never lived with John and they fought for custody of their daughter before it was decided that she would live with him in Dublin.
Sinead and Donal parted ways shortly after Shane’s arrival.
Her youngest child is 15-year-old Yeshua Francis Neil Bonadio, whom she shares with American businessman Frank Bonadio. They separated in 2017, a year after his birth.
