Ram Charan’s next release, Acharya, has already started to get underway, especially as this is the first time he will share screen space with his legendary superstar father, Chiranjeevi, in a full-fledged role. The star will next be seen in RRR, arguably the greatest Indian film after Baahubali 2, directed by the only SS Rajamouli, and with Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt. But given the amount of time an actor needs to devote to a Rajamouli project, combined with the COVID-19 pandemic and the cinema closure, that means Ram Charan’s last release was Rangasthalam back in 2018, and then people can not wait for Acharya and beyond.
Prior to the release of RRR, BollywoodLife caught up with Ram Charan for an exclusive interview in which he not only dropped a giant bomb on his and father Chiranjeevi’s roles, but also revealed why Acharya was the film where he and Chiranjeevi finally decided to share screen space in full-fledged roles, and how he was originally never meant to appear in the film. “I mean, it was not my decision. Yes, I’m part of the producer in it, but at first we had a lot of choices … as someone outside the family of course. And we (him and Chiru sir) play naxals , said Ram Charan.
The actor elaborated on how he finally got on board, continuing: “But out director, Koratala Siva, had decided somehow, one day, to call me and say, ‘I know you work at RRR, I know , that we can not ask Rajamouli. sir for timeout from RRR for our film (Acharya), but I am not able to think beyond you in relation to the script requirement, the script that is pleasant to have me in. ‘ So the script required it … not as we both decided (Chiranjeevi and him) … come on, let’s make a movie together, I think the director and the script required it, and the Rajamouli siren gave time from behind the scenes “(by RRR) for my film (Acharya), and it meant a lot. More than for me, it meant a lot to my mother, the fans and the script that I got into the project.”
There you have it – the latest dope about Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan’s roles in Acharya right from the horse’s mouth.
