A body has been found on a beach in Torpoint as part of the search for the missing Devon man John Harrison.
The 52-year-old from Crediton was last seen in Kingsbridge approximately 4.30pm on Sunday 17 October.
He is believed to have entered the river on an inflatable kayak and was last seen paddling up the estuary towards Salcombe at 16.55.
But in an update, Devon and Cornwall Police officers say a body was located at Kingsand Beach last month (December 23).
While formal identification has taken place, police have not gone so far as to say whether the body is Mr Harrison.
But officers have alerted Mr Harrison’s family to the latest update.
In a statement on their website, a police spokesman said: “The body of a man was located on Kingsand beach, Torpoint, on Friday 23 December.
“His death is not being treated as suspicious and a case is being prepared for the coroner.
“The formal identification has taken place.
“The family of John Harrison, 52, of Crediton, who was reported missing Sunday, Oct. 17, has been alerted.”
