“I asked God for a life of love and happiness. He sent me my family,” Mai wrote on the Instagram post.
Four months after revealing her baby bump and pregnancy to the world, Jeannie Mai is mother. “The Real” co-host shared the big news to his Instagram on Tuesday with a big revelation – and a lack of revelation!
“I prayed to God for a life of love and happiness,” Mai wrote in her photo. “He sent me my family.”

Well, she must have hung on to that family pretty close still – or at least when the picture was taken – because there was no baby in evidence. Instead, fans were pampered with a baby blanket with feet on and a card revealing the baby’s name.

Thus, fans now know that Jeannie and Jeezy are the proud parents of a new baby named Jenkins, but they know nothing else. We do not yet know how big the baby was, exactly when the baby was born – there has been speculation that January 5 was the date of birth – or even whether the baby is a boy or a girl.
The baby’s gender was actually a topic that Jeannie talked about shortly after revealing her pregnancy. In a talk with Women’s Wear Daily, the host said she did not want to know the baby’s gender in advance as she did not intend to target a particular color or aesthetic.
Instead, she went completely out in all directions. “I get everything because I want the child to have opportunities,” she explained. “It’s very awakening to see how much you put your baby in very specific stereotypes, based on whether you know it’s a boy or a girl.”

Now that she knows, Jeannie and Jeezy can decide how to proceed with raising their child. It certainly sounds as if they do not want to lean too hard into these gender stereotypes, and let the Jenkins help define their own lives and identities from the start.
As for the name, it seems that Jeannie and Jeezy may have had this name in their minds for a while now, or at least they have been set on matching the first letters of their own names. Last month, Jeannie shared one tweet where she referred to her then unborn child as “Baby J.”
One thing that is for sure, though, is that Mai will probably soon have a lot to say about “Baby J” and motherhood on “The Real.” We would not even be surprised if she checks in from maternity leave – or they check in on her.
Congratulations to the new parents!
