Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The mission of the Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) is to provide child care that encompasses the needs of each child and family in a safe, educational environment.
The structure of the ECLC’s focus is on the individual needs of each child, while providing quality, reliable, and safe child care in
preparation for higher education.

The ECLC seeks to provide a program of experience designed
to attain the following goals: to provide many opportunities for social development and adjustment; to promote development of good health
habits; to provide opportunities for self-expression through language, music, art, role playing, dramatizations, and other play
experiences;
to provide an atmosphere in which a child can succeed, thus building confidence in his or her own ability and worth.to
provide an atmosphere in which creativity is stimulated; to develop a feeling of adequacy with emphasis on independence and good work
habits; and to lay foundations for subject matter learning and intellectual growth.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The primary purpose of this position is to
provide young children (5 months to 5 years) with the skills and tools necessary to enhance their development growth from year to year; as
well as the tools necessary for them to enter kindergarten well prepared. The prospective employee will be fully responsible for planning
and implementing a program that will enrich the physical, social, and emotional needs of all children in the Early Childhood Learning
Center.

Teachers are involved in the care and instruction of children. Duties involve providing for the physical, emotional, and
social well-being of children; developing and/or carrying out curricula and individualized educational programs; collecting and maintaining
data and other information; performing administrative duties such as completing progress reports and record-keeping requirements;
professionally communicating developmental progress and/or concerns with families, supervisors, and other caregivers; providing one-on-one
developmental, behavioral, and/or emotional instruction; and providing guidance on proper behavior.  Teachers are responsible for ensuring
each child’s basic needs are met.  Teachers are responsible for administering first aid, CPR, and/or medication as
directed.  Teachers are required to comply with all applicable childcare facility and governmental regulations.

Child Care
and Instruction
– The ability to lead and instruct children in educational and developmental activities to meet the needs of
established curricula and program objectives.  Knowledge of and the ability to use a variety of techniques to instruct and guide children
with developing basic self-care and socialization skills.  The ability to provide age-appropriate basic care and attend to specialized needs
as required.

Curriculum Implementation – The ability to deliver and/or design a course of instruction or care for
children, delivered to a group or individualized for special needs.  Knowledge of concepts of early childhood development and
developing/maintaining schedules for learning and

Teachers have the following skills:
 

Communication – The ability to effectively convey information to supervisors, families, other caregivers and/or
other professionals regarding each child’s developmental progress.  The ability to communicate necessary classroom information to
parents/families and other caregivers.  The ability to further childcare goals through participation in community programs and/or workshops.
The ability to convey information clearly and concisely orally and/or in writing to ensure understanding.  The ability to listen and respond
appropriately to others.  

Safety – The ability to ensure well-being of children by maintaining a facility free from
potential danger.  The ability to administer first aid or medication as appropriate.  The ability to adhere to applicable guidelines, and
training requirements, such as CPR, SIDS, First Aid, Fire and Playground Safety,
Nutrition etc.  The ability to respond quickly in taking corrective action.  

Administration – The ability to
collect and maintain data for record-keeping requirements, developmental assessments, and/or accreditation standards.  The ability to handle
clerical needs of the classroom, including ordering supplies, maintaining files, etc.  The ability to enhance skills and keep current with
developments and trends in early childhood education.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Graduation from high school and one year of related childcare experience.

Knowledge skills and
abilities:

Communicate effectively with preschoolers, their families, and other staff. 
 Provide quality,
nurturing care to preschoolers enrolled in the program. 
 Demonstrate skills to properly address developmental needs of
preschoolers 
 Conduct and document developmental screenings and assessments of children. 
 Maintain effective, working relationships
with children, families, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

DCDEE
CDA (Child Development Associate’s Credential), Associate Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child
Development, or a related field.
