It’s a big year for TV shows based on Silicon Valley stories. In addition to Hulus Theranos series The apostasy coming here in March, there too Super pumped, Showtime’s anthology series based on Mike Issac’s book Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber. The first season tells of the fall of Uber’s former CEO Travis Kalanick, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. And if you’re wondering how well the actor embodies the displaced founder of Uber, you’ll find out now in the first official teaser trailer.
Gordon-Levitt transforms into a Silicon Valley horror, with straight hair and a tight black t-shirt paired with a blazer that ensures that “contrary to what you may have read, [he] is not a monster. “But it has quickly turned out not to be quite exactly, with a shot of Kalanick shouting at his staff: “My life is at stake here, and all of you – you will bleed for it!”
We also get a glimpse of Uma Thurman as Arianna Huffington, co-founder of Huffington Post, who was a board member of Uber. For those who miss watching Kyle Chandler on TV, he also has a big role in the program as Bill Gurley, who is also one of the former board members and is described as a “pronounced, ingenious Texas venture capitalist who bets his excellent reputation on Ubers success–and then have to live with the consequences. ”
Gurley is reported to be much high at 6’9, so it remains to be seen if Chandler is made to look as tall as the guy he plays or he just wants to be “plain tall” (Chandler is 6’1).
Other cast members that we do not get to see much of – or at all – in the teaser are Hank Azaria (who plays Apple CEO Tim Cook), Elisabeth Shue, Baba Tafti, Kerry Bishé and Mousa Hussein Kraish.
The series premieres on February 27.
