People may not think my son was potty trained for six months, but it’s easy

POTTY TRAINING is a daunting task for any parent, right ?!

Many mothers and fathers are horrified at the thought of potty training and accept that diaper changes will be a big part of their baby’s life for the first few years.

But now a mother in the US has gone viral on TikTok after revealing how her son started using a potty alone from the age of just six months.

TikTok user @ montessori.mothering revealed that her son, now in one year, is able to go “on the potty 90 percent of the time”.

The woman used a technique known as elimination communication to get her potty trained.

This technique involves putting a baby on a potty every time they signal that they are going to the toilet.

And this technique starts from an early age, instead of waiting until they are two years old, which is when many parents start potty training their children.

The TikToker raises his son in a “Montessori-like childhood” and explained that you should not wait until your baby is two years old to start potty training, but should start young instead.

In a video explaining how she trained her son, the mother explained that she started by putting him on the potty “every two to three hours” and “at least every time they wake up and after eating”.

She advised people to “make potty training fun” and “give a special toy / book” to your child to encourage them.

She added that it is important to “look for clues” that your child needs to go to the toilet, such as a grunting red face.

In addition to this, she only recommended using cloth diapers or exercise underwear as “baby feels wet and knows when to urinate.”

In another video, the mother explained that toilet training in elimination communication could start “from birth” with “observing your baby’s signals, usually after sleeping or eating” and by introducing a “sound or signal”.

She also confirmed, “You can start at any time! Some people start at newborn!”

She advised to “make fun of boys or toys.”

Her TikTok videos about the toilet training method have received as many as 1.7 million views.

Many TikTok users were very impressed with this potty training method and took the comments to heart to express this.

One person said, “You are a God! I will protect you at all costs.”

Another added: “Very very tempted to do this …”

Many TikTok users shared in the comments their experience with elimination communication.

A TikToker shared: “We love the European Championships and started as early as 6 weeks.”

Another explained: “EM is great. Every catch is a diaper smaller, I have to wash, plus baby has better BMs on the potty.”

There were also many users in the comments who shared their potty training experiences.

One user commented: “We just started with our almost 9 month old and two pees this week already in the pot!”

Another said: “My son has just turned 2 years old and is completely not interested :(“

A third added: “Tried this, my baby got tired of sitting on a potty. She gets up and goes straight to play before peeing.”
