34,660 new cases, 20 deaths registered

NSW has registered 34,660 new COVID-19 cases and 20 deaths in the most recent reporting period.

Of the new cases, 20,978 were positive PCR test results, while 13,682 were from rapid antigen testing.

There are currently 2,650 people in the hospital, of which 191 are in intensive care units.

More than 25 percent of people aged 16 and over have received their COVID-19 booster shots.

About 82 percent of children between the ages of 12 and 15 have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 78.4 percent are fully vaccinated.

More than 11 percent of children between the ages of five and 11 have received their first dose.

Elderly care has been hit hard in the recent outbreak, with more than 7000 active cases with residents and workers across 1100 facilities around Australia.

In NSW, 1530 elderly care residents and 1580 employees tested positive across 425 facilities, prompting calls for the introduction of visiting policies.
