Suspected of deadly shooting in NYC posed as food deliveries

The suspect wanted for killing a 30-year-old man inside a public housing complex in the East Village on Friday night posed as a food delivery man to carry out the crime, police said.

The alleged shooter arrived at Lillian Wald Houses on an e-bike before shooting down Davon Venable, 30, inside an apartment on the fourth floor around 10 p.m., police said.

The extensive cover-up seen in surveillance footage provided by the NYPD included a dark jacket with yellow reflective stripes and two bags – including a white plastic that would typically be used to transport delivery orders.

After entering the building, the suspect later goes out with only a blue bag and appears to be in a hurry – according to the video, he rides away on the electric bike.

Venable received gunshot wounds to the back and neck. He was taken to Mount Sinai-Beth Israel Medical Center and pronounced dead.
