Active COVID cases fall in Alberta on Tuesday for the first time in weeks

Active infections decreased provincially by 2,145 and in the region by 30.

Due to technical issues on the AHS website, the local breakdown was not available on Monday, so community-specific figures are for the last four days of reporting. At that time, 270 people received COVID in Lethbridge for a daily average of 68.

Since yesterday’s update, nine Albertans of COVID have died, with three each in the Calgary and Edmonton zones, two in the southern zone and one in the northern zone. To date, 3,412 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

The deaths in the southern zone were for one resident in each of North and South Lethbridge.

Provincially, 1,089 patients are currently hospitalized, including 104 who have been admitted to intensive care. These are increases of 82 and 10, respectively, from Monday’s report.
