We often think of celebrity children as a generation that has benefited from the success of their parents’ success. It’s easy to find kids of rappers bragging about their rich and affluent lifestyle on social media or thanks to the paparazzi taking pictures of them on an exotic vacation or buying expensive jewelry. While these times are true for famous families, Fat Joe made it clear that he makes sure in his home that everyone knows the truth about their financial situation.

The New York Rap icon recently sat down with I’m an athlete podcast and during the chat, he talked about the realities that come with fame, including being honest with yourself and your loved ones.

“You should never lie to yourself. You should not even lie to your family. I tell my wife, I tell my children, we are not Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs or Shawn Carter, Jay-Z,” Joe said. “One day, my son, he was like nineteen, he said, ‘Yo father, look at this!’ I’m looking at it, he got Dr. Dre’s son on a private plane, you got Jay-Z. He says, ‘That’s how the sons move now!’ “

“I thought, ‘You’re not fucking moving’!” joked the rapper. “We do not have that shit! So stop looking at the morph * ckas and keep at it! Stay in your lane, too many – it can be women too – but many men lose themselves by not trying to keep it genuine with himself. ” Do you think more rappers should take this mindset?
