Jay Z uses his significant influence to reform the criminal justice system for rappers coming to court in New York.
It has the 51-year-old rap mogul went together with other rap activists to stop the unfair practice of using malicious lyrics against rappers in court.

Rappers typically glorify murder, violence, drug trafficking, prostitution, and burglary in their rap lyrics. But most of them do not live that life when they leave the recording studios.
According to Rolling stones, Jay Z, government name Shawn Carter, has teamed up with Meek Mill, Big Sean, Fat Joe, Robin Thicke, Kelly Rowland and Yo Gotti to urge lawmakers to sign and support the “Rap Music on Trial” bill.
The rappers claim that instead of acknowledging rap music as a form of artistic expression, police and prosecutors interpret rap lyrics literally. They say the tactic gives prosecutors “a dangerous advantage in the courtroom.”

“This is an issue that is important for [Jay-Z] and all the other artists who have come together to try to create this change, “said Alex Spiro, Jay-Z’s attorney. Rolling stones. “It’s a long way off. Mr. Carter is from New York, and if he can borrow his name and weight, that’s what he wants to do.”
Rolling stones reports the bill, which was passed Tuesday in the New York Senate Codex Committee. The bill is on its way to a full vote in the Senate.
