The University of Southern Indiana invites applications for a full-time Disability
Resources Coordinator to join USI’s Disability Resources Office. The successful candidate will aid students with disabilities in obtaining
required documentation, receiving academic accommodations, and in making use of other resources, all while adhering to strict rules of
confidentiality and all applicable laws related to disability.

Essential Functions:
Research, develop and administer the
Disability Services department’s disability resources while maintaining a commitment to, and promoting student self-determination.
Serve
as a point of contact for students requesting disability accommodations, ensuring that reasonable procedures are followed.
Advise and
assist faculty members in the provision of appropriate in-class accommodations.
Administer University testing center.
Hire, train and
manage Disability Services non-exempt and exempt staff members.
Provide training, direction and guidance to faculty and administrative
staff on matters related to students with disabilities.
Represent Disability Services on appropriate university committees.
Serve as a
liaison to community, state, and regional agencies; referring students to these outside resources when and where appropriate.
Other
duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in special education, social work, counseling, psychology,
or other related human services area is required; a Master’s degree in one of those fields is preferred.
Two years relevant work
experience required; three or more years strongly preferred.
Experience in a college setting is strongly preferred.
The ability and
willingness to learn about assistive technology that may be used by students with disabilities is essential.
Prior experience with and
knowledge of such technology is preferred.
This position requires the application of effective interpersonal communication and
relationship-building skills with students, their families, faculty and staff.
Must establish rapport, build trust, problem solve and
maintain confidentiality.
Finally, demonstrated working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (as amended), Section
504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (as amended), and other disability rights laws is required.
