Winter weather advice issued for Delaware Valley as snow could affect Thursday morning commute – CBS Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Plan to use the option of teleworking on Thursday if possible, as it is highly advisable to avoid traveling during the morning commute. A fast-paced round of snow accumulating will affect the Delaware and Lehigh valleys late Wednesday night until noon Thursday.

A winter weather forecast is in effect for Philadelphia, surrounding suburbs and northern Delaware from 6 p.m. 5.00 to kl. 1 p.m. Thursday and for the Upper Bucks, northwestern Montgomery and Berks counties and Lehigh Valley from 6 p.m. 03:00 to 11.00

The event begins as rain for most, mainly after midnight. Then it will shift to snow from northwest to southeast throughout the region when cold, Arctic air blows into the back of a strong cold front.

The region is unlikely to experience much in the way of sleet or freezing rain as temperatures are set to drop rapidly. The precipitation type will be all snow in Philadelphia around noon. 6 or 7 Thursday. Constant snow will fall during the duration of the morning rush hour, and some snow can be heavy at times.

The wintry weather ends for most at noon on Thursday, yet the snow can continue along the coast until the early afternoon hours.

Snowfall accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are likely for large parts of the region with lower end totals expected for the Poconos and the immediate coastline of New Jersey.

The altitude is likely to occur at midnight and temperatures will drop to the 20s from mid to late Thursday morning.

As such, the snow will stick and remain on untreated surfaces. Expect reduced visibility, slippery roads, driveways and sidewalks through most of the morning.

The evening commute on Thursday will be dry, but with temperatures continuing to fall, any accumulated snowfall will freeze to create potentially icy conditions.

Prepare for extreme cold to set in in the evening with chills falling to single digits at. 22.00
