Anthony Ramos celebrates joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his casting in the upcoming Disney + series Ironheart.
Anthony Ramos celebrated joining the cast of Ironheart.
The actor shared a photo on Instagram of the headline announcing his Ironheart casting with the caption, “We in the [Marvel] universal mix. Gracia a Dios por la oportunidad! “While it’s unknown what character Ramos will play, it’s believed he’ll be an important part of Ironheart and that his character will recur in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, similar to Jonathan Majors’ role as He Who Remains (aka Kang the Conqueror) in Loki. Ramos was purportedly considered to star in the Disney + Halloween special Werewolf Town Nightbut the role ended up going to Gael García Bernal.
Ramos joins Dominique Thorne, who headlines Ironheart as teenage engineering prodigy Riri Williams. Inspired by Tony Stark, she builds her own high-tech suit of armor to defend Chicago. Thorne previously revealed she won the Ironheart lead role without needing to audition, saying, “I was waiting for them to say, like, ‘Oh, we’ll send you the sides,’ or, ‘Get your tape over to us.’ But there was none of that. It was just like, ‘Would you like to do this?’ It was probably the most unique experience I’ve ever had because there was no audition at all. ” Before IronheartRiri will debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, set to hit theaters on Nov. 11.
Outside of Thorne and Ramos, there’s no word on who else will star in Ironheart, though fans believe two major Marvel villains are set to join the series based on casting descriptions. One describes a character who is “charming, magnetic, slick and oily,” “always working an angle to his own advantage” and “has a crew working for him.” The character is rumored to be Parker Robbins / The Hood, a petty criminal who stumbles onto a magical cloak and sets out to conquer the criminal underworld. The other purported villain is Zeke Stane, the brilliant son of Obadiah Stane (played by Jeff Bridges in Iron You) seeking to avenge his father.
Ramos is best known for his work in musicals, having originated the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the Broadway megahit Hamilton before starring as Usnavi de la Vega in the film adaptation of In the Heights. He is also set to star in upcoming features The Bath Guys, Distant spirit Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
Ironheart has yet to receive a premiere date.
