In the new trailer, Kamala leads an ordinary existence in between seemingly unrequited crushes and dull meetings with her well-meaning school counselor.

Despite complaining that “it’s not really the brown girls from Jersey City who save the world”, Kamala is mysteriously bestowed with the cosmic power to do just that. How will she adjust to her new secret identity?

Last year, Vellani opened up about joining the MCU and what her character means for representation.

“The fact that the show is being made and they’re including this character in the MCU is [what’s important]”the 19-year-old actress told Variety.

“I do not really have to go out of my way and talk about being a Muslim and being Pakistani – it all comes out in the show. People seeing a person like me involved in a project as big as this is, I think, inspiring enough. “

Ms Marvel also stars Aramis Knight as the vigilante Red Dagger, Matt Lintz as Kamala’s best friend Bruno Carrelli, and Mohan Kapur and Zenobia Shroff as her parents.

Ms Marvel is available to stream on Disney + from June 8, 2022.
