Doctor Strange 2 Star Wants Their MCU Team-Up With The X-Men

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Benedict Wong, a ‘big’ marvel cinematic universe fan, wants to see a crossover with the X-Men.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Benedict Wong says he is game to join forces with the X-Men.

In an interview with, Wong geeked out when asked which character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe he would want to have a crossover with. While he initially, and quickly, answered, “Samuel L. Jackson.” The Doctor Strange star went on to express his fondness for the X-Men. “If ever the X-Men are around, I’d like to hang out with the X-Men,” he said.

The MCU’s new Sorcerer Supreme further displayed his nerdiness as he called himself a “big” Marvel Comics fan and highlighted his love for one classic storyline in particular. “I’m a big Marvel comic fan back in the day and obviously, I always remembered the Secret Wars, where everybody was involved… Who else? X-Force, Nightcrawler, all of those,” elongated Wong.

Wong’s desire to team up with the X-Men appears to coincides with Patrick Stewart’s casting in the Doctor Strange sequel. Stewart famously played Professor X / Charles Xavier in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men films in the early 2000s. The upcoming Sam Raimi-directed film is expected to take the MCU in new directions with the multiverse concept. Various Doctor Strange variants will feature in the film, alongside variants of Wong’s own Sorcerer Supreme– a title he earned following Strange’s disappearance in the Blip.

Since 2016’s first Doctor Strange, Wong’s evolution in the MCU has been one of the talking points, which the actor himself recently joked about. “I call it Phase Wong,” quipped the actor, calling his evolution a “nice” and “interesting” shift. “Wong has taken on a new role, and that dynamic changes between them [Wong and Strange] both, “he said.

Wong’s remarks on his character’s growth in the MCU were also backed by Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige. Wong previously revealed, “I got an email from Kevin Feige saying it’s fast becoming the WCU.” The sorcerer has played a significant role in some of Phase 4’s biggest titles, including Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and, more recently, Spider-Man: No Way Homethough his to appearances may not be connected in any obvious way.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will arrive in theaters next Friday, May 6.
