A Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness fan-created toy brutally depicts the death of Reed Richards at the hands of Scarlet Witch.
Spoilers ahead for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
A fan-created Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness toy brutally depicts Mister Fantastic’s fate in the movie. Stephen Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues in the Sam Raimi-directed movie, after having recently appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home. His latest adventure sees the sorcerer traveling to other universes, including Earth-838, where there’s a fully established Illuminati team that includes John Krasinski’s Reed Richards.
The Illuminati is a secret superhero team in Marvel Comics that is tasked with making difficult decisions to keep peace in the world and Marvel Studios debuts its Earth-838 version of the team through Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Mister Fantastic has long been a member of the group in Marvel Comics and that carried over to the MCU. Joining him are Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell), Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Maria Rambeau’s (Lashana Lynch) Captain Marvel, Black Bolt (Anson Mount), and Professor X (Patrick Stewart). Unfortunately, before they could even establish themselves in the MCU, most of them were quickly killed by Scarlet Witch.
Coming from a horror background, Raimi did not hold back when depicting the Illuminati members’ deaths. For Mister Fantastic, this meant Wanda transforming him to shreds in a brutal sequence. This scene was the inspiration for Etsy seller Suspicious Duck, who created a figure for the character after he’s killed. The item is handmade and complete with its own box – as if it’s a legitimate merchandise release. It’s described as “The remnants of Reed Richards as seen in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.” It’s priced at NZ $ 40.27 and is currently sold out. Based on the customer reviews, buyers seem happy with the product. Click here to see the listing.
Krasinski has long been fan cast to play Mister Fantastic in the MCU with his real-life wife Emily Blunt portraying Sue Storm. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness pretty much delivered with regard to Krasinski’s Reed Richards. Unfortunately, his stint was far too brief to see how he might actually do in the role in the long run. The good thing is, despite being already dead, Marvel Studios can still bring him back to play Earth-616 Reed Richards in future movies.
Despite Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘mixed reviews, there’s no denying that it’s one of the most visually interesting films in the MCU. Wanda’s laying waste to the Illuminati was visceral and shocking. While it’s unclear if Marvel Studios is planning on bringing Krasinski back into the MCU, at least fans will always have Scarlet Witch’s murder of Reed Richards immortalized via a fan-made toy.
