In a new preview for Marvel’s Fortnite crossover Zero War, Spider-Man is calling all of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to help battle the Imagined Order.
Warning! Contains a preview for Fortnite x Marvel: Zero War # 1
Marvel Comics has released a new preview for their upcoming Fortnite crossover with Spider-Man calling all the Avengers he can assemble. Following their successful Batman crossover series with the DC Universe, Fortnite is continuing the Seven’s battle with the Imagined Order by calling in the calvary from Marvel’s Earth-616. With the powerful Zero Point hanging in the balance, it looks as though Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will be crucial in the upcoming Zero War.
As seen in the actual Fortnite videogame, Spider-Man and the Daily Bugle were ripped from Earth-616 and transported to Fortnite Island by the Imagined Order. While Spider-Man became a playable Fortnite character on the island, the Daily Bugle became a major battle location and point of interest. However, it seems as though the heroes of the Seven managed to rescue Spider-Man from a looped fate of constant battling over and over (just as Batman broke free from his own loop in the Batman x Fortnite: Zero Point series).
As seen in the new preview for Marvel x Fortnite: Zero War # 1 by Christos Gage, Donald Mustard, and Sergio Davila, Spider-Man returns to the primary Marvel Universe by jumping through the Zero Point along with Agent Jones and the Imagined. Having just evaded the Imagined Order’s Doctor Slone, it seems as though Fortnite’s villains are well aware of what the Seven are planning. In the meantime, Spider-Man asks Captain Marvel to call every team of Avengers there is. Here are the preview pages and synopsis for the upcoming issue:
MARVEL X FORTNITE: ZERO WAR # 1- THE MARVEL UNIVERSE COLLIDES WITH FORTNITE! The inhabitants of the Island are locked in what seems like a never-ending war, and only one thing has the potential to turn the tide – a crystallized fragment of the Zero Point that was cast into the Marvel Universe. Spider-Man and Wolverine team up with several Fornite fighters and new recruit Shuri to hunt down the elusive Zero Shard. Will these allies be able to find it in time and avert catastrophe? And can the heroes of the Marvel and Fortnite realities hold off the Imagined Order long enough to give them a fighting chance? Epic Games’ Chief Creative Officer, Donald Mustard, teams up with veteran Marvel writer Christos Gage (SPIDER-GEDDON, AVENGERS ACADEMY) and artist Sergio Dávila (CAPTAIN MARVEL) for a five-part crossover event with enormous ramifications for both universes!
Interestingly, the synopsis references a fragment of the Zero Point that was sent to Earth-616. Perhaps this occurred because of the Nexus War where Galactus attacked the island in 2020’s in-game crossover? Additionally, it looks like though Wolverine and Shuri are confirmed for the comics crossover and will be joining Spider-Man in the Zero War that’s about to begin. Previous teases have also confirmed that each issue of the five-part miniseries will come with codes to unlock in-game rewards, just like with DC’s past Batman crossovers.
At any rate, it will be exciting to see which Avengers will join the Seven to save Fortnite Island. While the island has already seen its fair share of heroes in the actual game, the Marvel Universe is hardly short on heroes.
Here’s hoping Spider-Man can get the right Avengers for the job when the full Marvel x Fortnite: Zero War # 1 releases on June 8th.
