It was back in 2006 then Roddy Piper was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. In a recent episode of ‘Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard’, Bruce went into detail about the events that led to Roddy being diagnosed, including breaking a UK Tour while he was probably suffering from it.

Bruce said, “I remember Roddy telling me and showing me that. He was wearing a shirt for his fights over there so no one saw it, nobody saw his body. He pulls me into a bathroom and says’ I have to show you something “, and he pulls his shirt up. Down by his kidneys it was awful, it was purple.”

Bruce revealed that Roddy threatened him not to tell anyone about it. Prichard insisted that Roddy get it checked out right away, and eventually he brought in a doctor to look at Roddy.

Prichard said the doctor insisted that Roddy get a CAT scan, but he refused to do any medical tests in Europe. “He did not want to do it in the UK. He simply refused. He went home right afterwards and it was something they did not diagnose it as lymphoma at the time, it was just a bad bruise, maybe a kidney injury and all. they did a myriad of tests, but at that point they did not make the diagnosis. ” In November 2006, Piper was finally diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma after doctors found a cancerous tumor on a disc in his spine. He underwent a lot of radiation treatment while spending time in the hospital.

Brice said Roddy always had a ‘show must go on’ attitude and he worked his way through it by just wrapping it up before his matches. Prichard proclaimed, “He was an evil puppy … I was afraid to just look at him. I can not tell anyone about this, I have to get the doctor in here.”
