TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers officially terminated contract with wide receiver Antonio Brown with immediate effect, according to a release from the team.
The release stated that Brown was approved to play by the medical team prior to the game against the New York Jets despite his claim that an MRI showed broken bone fragments, torn ligaments and cartilage loss in his ankle.
“While Antonio was receiving treatment on his ankle and was listed on the injury report the week leading up to last Sunday’s match,” the statement said, “at no point during the match did he indicate to our medical staff that he could not play.”
The team added that they were trying to schedule an evaluation by an external orthopedic specialist, but Brown reportedly did not comply.
This is a development story.
