Burnt body found two days after possible arson in Lancaster

Homicide detectives are investigating the finding of a burnt corpse in Lancaster on Monday afternoon, officials said.

The body was reportedly found around 2.30pm along the 44000 block of Andale Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The discovery of the body comes more than two days after the first fire, which occurred at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, the Sheriff’s Department added in an update.

Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department’s Fire Department returned to the scene Monday in an attempt to identify the cause of the fire, which remains unknown, and then discovered the body.

Although the Sheriff’s Department originally said the body was of a man, officials have not determined whether the person was a man or a woman, and the cause of death also remains under investigation, the update added.

No further details have been released.

Anyone with information can call the department’s homicide office at 323-890-5500.
