Job Description

The BI Developer III is a member of the Ohio University Information Delivery team. This is a mid-level position responsible for the
design, development, and delivery of reporting solutions for Ohio University. This includes developing complex data models, queries, and
custom reports for operational and analytical reporting.
 

Duties include: 

  1. Responsible for development,
    maintenance, and support of an enterprise data warehouse system and corresponding data marts. Perform data warehouse design and development
    requiring an in-depth knowledge of business processes, source data and SQL language features, including creating
    scripts, stored procedures, indexes, and views. Develop appropriate application and systems documentation. Prepare and implement data
    verification and testing methods for the data warehouse. Troubleshoot and tune existing data warehouse applications. Responsible for
    metadata and repository creation. Provide primary analytical support for multiple functional areas. 
  2. Responsible for creating
    complex database reports based on the needs of end users. Incorporate end user requests and requirements to develop an enterprise reporting
    solution. Requires in-depth knowledge of SQL programming. Review queries for performance issues, making changes
    as needed. Provide primary operational support for multiple functional areas. 
  3. Leverage an in-depth understanding of reporting
    application features to support the user community in the use of business intelligence tools to query files and databases for report
    outputs. Assist customers in use of OLAP tools, extract and collect data for performing queries and writing
    reports. 
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education
* 3 or more years experience creating and maintaining SQL queries professionally
* Proven experience developing ETL processes and applying data
warehousing methodologies in an enterprise environment
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and
written 

Preferred Qualifications
* Master’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field
*
Familiarity with higher education business processes they pertain to institutional finance, regulatory reporting, and human resources
*
Experience writing reports against ERP data 
* Experience with Reporting tools such as OBI, Cognos, or SSRS
* Demonstrable experience applying secure data handling best
practices
