NEW YORK (AP) – It is estimated that 100,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in one year, an unprecedented milestone that health officials say is linked to the COVID-19 pandemic and a more dangerous drug supply.
Overdose deaths have been rising for more than two decades, accelerating in the last two years, and according to new data released Wednesday, they have risen nearly 30% in the past year.
