Chicago students plan to retire due to return to personal learning

CHICAGO – Students at several Chicago Public Schools plan to go out Friday in protest of the decision to return to personal learning.

Students at Solorio Academy High School in Gage Park and students at other schools throughout the city will walk out of class at 12:30 p.m., Friday. The event was organized by the Chicago Public Schools Radical Youth Alliance, known as Chi-Rads.

The dismissal comes after an agreement between the Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Teachers Union to return to personal learning and increase security measures to prevent the spread of Covid.

Students said the CPS ignored their votes on school safety issues.
