Cities: VR is not Cities: Skylines 2, but the developer’s developers have more to look forward to

A new Cities game was announced today, but if you’re waiting for a full sequel to Cities: Skylines, you’ll have to wait a little longer. Cities: VR looks like a fun twist on the formula, but the developers behind the series have stepped in to reassure fans that something more traditional is on the way as well.

“We want to assure this amazing community that we’re still working hard on the aforementioned project with the Colossal Order,” the Cities team said in a blog post prior to today’s announcement, “but we are not yet at a point where we are ready to share more information about it. Our upcoming news and announcements are not related to that project, nor do they affect the timeline of that project. “

Cities: VR is under development at Fast Travel Games for the Meta (formerly Oculus) Quest 2. The VR game is set to launch in the spring of 2022 and will let you do all the urban planning you expect now from a god’s point of view. Alas, there is no mention of any possibility of importing your cities: Skylines saves to explore your existing cities in VR, which is what I would want out of a product like this.
