A 19-year-old man has died after being hit in the head with a door while on a construction site in the southern suburbs of Perth.
Nathaniel Good was working on a residential building in North Coogee when the accident happened around 9 a.m. Monday morning.
He was about to lower a driveway when a door made of heavy steel and lumber fell on him.
Police said emergency services were on the scene quickly but could not rescue the man.
“A lot of the workers are pretty bored of what one could imagine,” said Inspector Vic Hussey.
“He received CPR on the spot, there was a lot of work to try to revive him, but unfortunately without success.”
Work stopped immediately on the spot and a full investigation is currently underway.
In a statement, the company overseeing the project said Mr. Good worked on that it was crushed to hear about the incident.
“We are devastated by the events that took place today at a location adjacent to one of our North Coogee development projects,” said M / Construction Director Michael Read.
“Our thoughts go to the family of the deceased.”
Mr. Good was employed by a subcontractor who was employed to perform a specific role on the Site.
“M / Construction maintains the highest standards of on-site safety and we make every effort to support WorkSafe and relevant authorities as they investigate the incident,” he said. Read.
