The number of COVID cases UK has seen since the start of the pandemic has passed 10 million, official figures show.
According to government data, the number of people who have been tested positive in the latest round of daily figures is 47,240.
This takes the total number of coronavirus infections to 10,021,497.
Today’s data also showed that a further 147 people have died with COVID.
The figures also showed that the cases reported between 19 November and 25 November increased by 9.5% compared to the previous seven days.
A further 147 people were also reported dead within 28 days after a positive test for COVID, meaning that the total number of seven days decreased by 14.8% compared to the previous week.
Meanwhile, a total of 50,852,133 first doses of the COVID vaccine had been delivered in the UK on 24 November, an increase of 24,579 compared to yesterday.
About 46,232,258 second doses were also delivered, an increase of 23,439.
A total of 16,383,575 booster and third doses were also released, a day-to-day increase of 378,946.
The latest figures come as Europe struggles with its latest COVID wave.
Earlier today, the Czech government declared a state of emergency for 30 days due to an increase in cases while Germany hit 100,000 COVID-related deaths.
Outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel said at a news conference: “The day we have to mourn over 100,000 coronavirus victims is a sad one.”
In France, authorities announced that booster shots would be made available to anyone over the age of 18, instead of just those over 65 and those with underlying health problems, in an attempt to tackle the ongoing crisis.
