Job Summary:
This is a 40 hour per week, salaried position. Provides executive leadership, vision, strategic planning, and operational management for the Arts and Sciences Education Division.

Essential Functions:
1. Provides visionary leadership and operational management of academic programs and courses, departments, faculty, and staff in the Arts and Sciences Division to increasing levels of excellence; 2. Recommends faculty appointments, reviews contracts, manages faculty load, conducts performance appraisals, and recommends professional development;3. Oversees academic schedule build to ensure a student-centered schedule. 4. Leads the Arts and Sciences Division in developing and accomplishing the annual divisional goals and objectives that support the strategic plan and mission of the College;5. Monitors enrollment in collaboration with Department Chairs/ Program Directors; collaboratively plans and participates in recruitment and retention efforts with College faculty and staff; 6. Adjudicates student grievances per policy;7. Provides executive/strategic level leadership for the Learning Resources Commons (i.e., Library), Testing Services, Tutoring, and Writing Lab. ,.8. 9. Assures compliance with all pertinent local, state, federal, accreditation, and safety laws, regulations, and policies;10. Leads the evaluation, review, and refinement of Arts and Sciences curricula and in the development of new instructional curricula based on assessed needs;11. In collaboration with faculty, leads and oversees articulation and transfer initiatives.12. In collaboration with the Dean of Accreditation, Planning, and Quality, supports and coordinates programmatic accreditation and compliance in Arts and Sciences Division; 13. Coordinates program/discipline reviews within the Division; recommends actions supported by curriculum reviews to improve instruction and support academic excellence, student success, and community impact;14. Plans for and manages the use of instructional space, equipment, and supplies in cooperation with other College administrators;15. Develops and administers the budgets of the Arts and Science Division and departments; writes and/or oversees development of external funding proposals;16. Represents the Division and the College within the community including K-12 districts, with other colleges and related professional organizations;17. Serves on College and community committees, as assigned;

Other Duties:
1. Performs other duties as assigned by the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required, including strong oral and written communication skills, diplomacy, and the ability to work with all disciplines, levels, and backgrounds. Ability to direct and manage multiple priorities, utilize effective time management skills, and exercise sound administrative judgment. The successful candidate will exhibit exceptional strength in strategic thinking, analysis and problem solving, organizational leadership, collaboration, and a results-oriented vision and focus.

Accountabilities:
Under the limited supervision of the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean of the Arts & Sciences is accountable for executive level strategic planning, daily operations of the Arts & Sciences Division, and supervision of department chairs, faculty, and staff of the Division.

Job Specifications:
Masters degree from an accredited institution required, doctorate preferred. A minimum of five years of college administrative experience with demonstrated success in academic planning, programmatic accreditation, curriculum development, faculty development, and budgeting required. Experience as program coordinator, department chair, or associate dean required. Prior college-level teaching experience required.
