Denzel Curry announces new album, “Melt My Eyez See Your Future”

Say goodbye to Denzel Curry’s variants from his cinematic universe. The Miami-Dade County native is preparing to drop his most mature album to date – and he plans to leave his former alter egos.

On Tuesday, the Carol City rapper released an abstract teaser for his new album, Melt My Eyez See your future. In the video, we see Curry rock a unique hairstyle instead of his characteristic dreads as he embarks on a hike through a distant desert. A gloomy guitar riff acts as his soundtrack as he walks past huge dunes. Towards the end of the clip, Curry reveals the album title and the immaculate list of special guests: T-Pain, 6lack, Slowthai, Rico Nasty, JID, Kenny Beats, Cardo, Thundercat, Boi-1da, to name a few.

The short video serves as a quick insight into the fresh direction he is heading into for his sixth studio album. Despite the music in the teaser, Melt My Eyez See your future is expected to offer more traditional hip hop with influences from jazz, drum ‘n’ bass and other genres. Shortly after dropping the teaser video, Curry appeared on Instagram Live to perform a rare Q&A on the album. During the livestream, the “Clout Cobain” rapper provided more context behind the direction of the LP and assured his fans that they are getting 100 percent pure Denzel.

“I’m not trying to be Zeltron,” Curry said during the stream. “I’m not trying to be Aquarius Killa. I’m not trying to be Raven Miyagi. I’m not trying to be any of those personalities or any of those people. I’m Denzel. I’m a human. I have emotions.”

Previously, Curry invented specific personalities to go along with his album themes like Zeltron 6 Billion from his 13 EP or his black-and-white Joker look from the Dark Act on his 2018 album TA13OO. In 2022, Denzel, who is turning 27 next month, claims he’s moving away from the hardcore screamo tunes he’s made in the past, to focus on making more mature music that reflects his current lifestyle.

“I do not have to create an alter ego for me to be myself, do you understand what I’m saying?” Curry continued. “So that’s what I mean, it’s the end of an era. You’ll not hear the same type of Denzel anymore.”

Curry has consistently dropped music since 2011, but it’s at least two years since he released a full-length album. Melt My Eyez See your future will serve as the follow-up to the 2020s Unlocked with Kenny Beats. Over the last year alone, Curry delivered Unlocked 1.5 EP as well as other singles like “The Game” and “Bad Luck” for Dark Nights: Death Metal soundtrack.

Currently is the release date for Melt My Eyez See your future has not been confirmed. See the teaser below.
