Position Overview & Responsibilities

The Director of Accessibility Services and Compliance Officer is
responsible for managing the Accessibility Office and all services provided to students seeking accommodations under the Americans with
Disabilities Act and other Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to students with disabilities. The Director is responsible for
ensuring that all reasonable accommodations are offered and that the community is educated with regard to best practices of accessibility
issues. The Director will coordinate efforts with constituencies across the college regarding accommodations for students. The position
requires a commitment to and experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion, cultural competency, and ability to relate to and to
communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty, representing diverse identities, communities and experiences


  • Manage the Office of Accessibility Services
  • Ensure the cogency of the process
    from that students go through to seek accommodations;
  • in conjunction with other ASO staff members, review submitted documents for
    purposes of determination of classroom accommodations;
  • Review submitted documents and make determinations regarding request for
    accommodations in housing, parking, food and any other area for which students are seeking accommodations;
  • Coordinate, plan,
    implement and assess campus-wide events and activities designed to educate and inform the community with and outside of Merrimack on issues
    relevant to ADA and Higher Education;
  • Lead a campus wide Accessibility Services Team to review college wide policies and procedures
    so as to develop these to best serve students. This includes maintaining current knowledge of trends and applications of assistive
    technology and training students and staff as needed;
  • Act as liaison for faculty, students, families and campus departments in
    matters of ADA policies, procedures and practices at Merrimack.
  • Work especially closely with the Dean of Students and the Office
    Residential Life to ensure the best service to students; advise, counsel and mentor students;
  • Regularly review and update all
    marketing materials including the web with regard to accessibility and compliance issues;
  • Represent the Office and participate in
    various campus events including admitted student events, orientation, workshops as needed


  • Master’s Degree
  • Professional experience in a field relevant to understanding of issues pertinent to ADA, federal and
    state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities, and delivery of support services to students with disabilities.
  • Experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion and cultural competency
  • At least 5 years of working in
    Disability/Accessibility services preferably on the college level.

Required Vaccinations & Remote Work:

Unless otherwise stated above, this is an on-campus position. This is not a remote or hybrid position as employees are essential in order
to provide a fully on-campus, residential college experience for our students and the community.
