Disney Channel’s original animated series gets a streaming revival

The trailer has a new character, with the voice of Billy Porter introducing her brave husband, with the voice of Zachary Quinto. At a TV Critics Association panel last week (via Deadline), “Proud Family” creator Bruce W. Smith and co-executive producer Ralph Farquhar explained that “Louder and Proouder” will live up to its title by committing, in a straightforward way, with stories that could only be hinted at before. Farquhar said:

“A lot has changed in 20 years, that’s for sure. Before we had to point the toe and use coded language. Now we can go straight to it.”

The official synopsis for “The Proud Family: Louder and Proouder” from Disney + is as follows:

A sequel to the acclaimed series, “The Proud Family: Louder and Proouder” follows the adventures and misfortunes of the recently 14-year-old Penny Proud and her proud family as they navigate modern life with cheerfulness and heart. The 2020s bring new heights to the career of mom Trudy, wilder dreams for dad Oscar and new challenges for Penny, including a socially awake neighbor who thinks she has a lot to teach her, bullying influencers on social media who want to cancel her and her own teenage hormones.

Penny’s friends return, including Dijonay, LaCienega, Zoey and Michael. Penny’s Suga Mama also returns, ready as always to hand out hard love or a gentle hand when Penny needs it. Among the new faces are Maya and KG, new children who must not only handle the struggles of being the new child, but also have two fathers, a first for Smithville.

“The Proud Family: Louder and Proouder” premieres at Disney + on February 23, 2022.
