FORT MCCOY, Wis. Fort McCoy announced Saturday night that the Department of Defense has approved a request for assistance from the State Department to provide temporary housing, maintenance and support in the United States to specific Afghan special immigration visa applications and their families, and other vulnerable Afghans in Fort McCoy.
According to a press release, the support is in addition to that provided in Fort Bliss, Texas and Fort Lee, Virginia.
“This initiative follows on from America’s commitment to Afghans who helped the United States,” the statement said.
