Next Tuesday, the founder of Black Doctors COVID-19 consortium The George HW will receive the Bush Points of Light Award. The award recognizes them with integrity and empathy that creates positive change.

Dr. Stanford said she was humbled by the honor last Friday.

She also talked about the next steps for her organization, a new health center that offers easy access to health care.
“We are changing this narrative by offering preventative care and for it to be a one-stop-shop,” said Dr. Stanford. “So often you need laboratories, you need an X-ray, you need an ECG, and now we say, ‘When you get free from work and you come, we take care of you.’ ”

In addition to providing various health services, the new health center will also distribute COVID vaccines to the community.
